Rochester's premier performing arts youth camp, Summer Stars, is a three-week intensive Broadway summer day-camp for students grade 3-12, held on stage at the Auditorium Theatre. The camp is taught by Broadway professionals from New York City and talented college interns majoring in performing arts. Summer Stars is presented by the Rochester Broadway Theatre League (RBTL) and is produced in association with Moveable Arts.
The curriculum is organized by RBTL's Director of Education and Outreach, Bob Sagan, and Adam Pelty, Artistic Director. Through rehearsals and performances, campers develop their talents and have the opportunity to grow, to learn and to explore new ideas. The camp focuses on providing quality experiences that enrich and inspire students in areas of acting, dancing and singing. The camp culminates in a Gala Showcase performance at the end of the three weeks, where students demonstrate what they have learned.
The Summer Stars mission is to provide an enriching, non-competitive environment in which children can further develop an appreciation for the performing arts whether they are novices or seasoned veterans. Activities are designed to develop life skills: to teach, to encourage, to build self-confidence, to further self-esteem and to become a responsible member of a team.
Summer Stars Six will take place July 9-27, 2012, with the Gala Showcase Performance on July 27th.

The purpose of the Summer Stars Scholarship Assistance Program is to provide financial support to young people who would not otherwise have the resources to participate. Recommendations for scholarships are made by a committee that consists of the Administrative Staff for Summer Stars and members selected from the RBTL Education Committee. The committee bases its recommendations on the qualifications and criteria as presented in the application. Students must demonstrate financial need based on the scholarship application.
