High School Center Stage is a unique program that brings the relevancy of contemporary American Musical Theatre to the high school classroom. Students have the opportunity to explore themes and issues present in a musical that are meaningful and timely to their lives. Partnering teachers and RBTL's Director of Education and Outreach work in tandem to create a thought provoking and stimulating program that will further develop critical thinking and show the universality of musical Theatre. A year-long program is tied in with the selected curriculum, and the program is enhanced by guest speakers, panel discussions and experiential workshops that will prepare students for the experience of seeing a live Broadway musical.
This Season's High School Center Stage program provided local high school students with the opportunity to see Les Miserables. Students learned about injustice in society, revenge, consequence and due process of law. They also studied related literature and film while participating in workshops.
