Introduction to Theatre for Middle Schools - Testimonials from Students

RBTL's Middle School Program is the joy of effective education that is student-centered and critical for all. It immerses children in the many facets of the arts and hopefully, allows us to foster an appreciation throughout our lives. Partnerships like this allow children the opportunity to explore wonderful world of arts that some would not necessarily have. Our experience with RBTL was overwhelmingly delightful, extremely enriching and to date, several students have now begun to share thinking about future goals that include lighting and sound, theatre productions, and of course, music. Thank you for your continued support.
Laurel Avery-DeToy, Administrator, James Monroe High School, Rochester City School District

The explosion of interest and enthusiasm in this educational community is a marvelous testimony to the worth of RBTL's education program for middle school students. I am so appreciative that Willink Middle School was allowed to participate in this year's program.
Kathleen M Coughlin, Music Teacher, Willink Middle School, Webster, NY

The preparatory sessions you provided before the students attended the production gave them an understanding of the history of theatre, its terminology and a working knowledge of the difference between live theatre performances and the movies. It provided a solid base of knowledge for these students. I was amazed at how quickly they grasped the terms and other concepts you presented and the wonderful questions asked and discussions about the theater they had with you during your visits.
Kevin M. Coughlin, Music Teacher, Wilson Foundation Academy, Rochester City School District

We all hope that this terrific program can continue, so future students will be able to learn about the world of the theatre as well. The Greater Rochester community as a whole benefits when the citizens of tomorrow are involved in the arts. We must make sure that education programs of this quality are always available.
Timothy J. McDonnell, Enrichment Teacher, Victor Middle School, Victor, NY

My feelings about this program were confirmed the evening of the performance at the theatre when I saw my students dressed in their best clothes and holding their heads high with pride and self esteem. When we talked during intermission, their faces were beaming with delight. At the end of the night when they floated home, I knew they were inspired. Musicals are a fantastic and captivating way to learn about our world, its history, its people, and its culture.
Jennifer Moses, Music Teacher, James Monroe High School, Rochester City School District.

Thank you for coming into our school to teach us about theatre and the play…

Thanks for letting us be part of the journey…

I am very grateful for the chance to see my first Broadway production. I loved the songs and the choreography was the best part.

I really enjoyed the field trips. They made me understand the play better.
